Happy Rooster | Eating (and being healthy) in your not-so-usual dining destination

Have you ever imagined dining inside a home furnishing store with all merchandise on display beside you? Not with Happy Rooster, it’s as if you are inside your home, where you eat in a dining table next to your kitchen, or sip a warm apple cider tea in your favorite reading nook, or simply enjoy a slice of pita bread with your favorite toppings at the al-fresco ground with the refreshing sight of a water fountain.

The Happy Rooster, a quaint home furnishing store at The Persimmon Plus in M.J. Cuenco Avenue in Mabolo, has been operating for more than two years giving assistance to condo dwellers and home starters in dressing-up their owned spaces. They provide full interior decoration works and supplies furniture and equipment. Their collection of home accessories are wide and varied, mostly from US and from countries the owner had visited. One thing unique in this store is the cooking and health classes they organize and conduct from time to time. For a small group, the ever-optimist owner Mrs. Linda Binghay would gladly share her more than 34 years of knowledge and experience being a public nutritionist in Chicago USA through cooking demonstrations and group discussions. And eventually, the dining concept amidst the mishmash of home decors, furniture, and accessories was born.

Vegans (and those trying hard!), health buffs, and conscious diners, be delighted as we have a new dining outlet added to our list! Happy Rooster is now serving fresh, light and scrumptious fares that surely will captivate your discriminating tastes. Have a breath of fresh air in Happy Rooster if you are tired of the usual thing you eat in the usual place you go.

Now, these are worth your try:

Their light sandwiches seem heavy yet deliciously inviting:

Happy Rooster prepares food with you in mind. All dishes are prepared the healthiest way: only the freshest and organic ingredients, less if not, no sugar at all, no salt, avoids using chemicals, and uses only anything that is in season. Happy Rooster is inspired and committed in providing only the healthiest for all Cebuanos as this has been the guiding principle of the owner in doing her business.

Anybody would agree with me that the best place to dine is inside your home, and it turns out Happy Rooster literally is your house jam-packed with all the things you can see at home. You can watch how the Chefs prepare your orders in the open kitchen, just like how you would observe mom preparing your dinner. The passionate owner Mrs. Linda would readily assist and give you insights on how to prepare healthy foods, just like your mom would guide you on what to eat and what not. Dining here evokes a feeling of home the one that you would want to retire at the end of the day, where family gathers around the kitchen table not only for a feast of good food but of wonderful memories shared with one another.

No one in Cebu does this. It’s only in Happy Rooster.

The Happy Rooster serves these healthy and delicious dishes only from 6:00pm up to 9:00pm, Mondays to Saturdays. During daytime, it is your usual home furnishing store and at night time, it will metamorphose to a quaint dining house.

I have noticed that Cebuano businessmen are now embracing this concept of home furnishing-slash-dining outlet at the same time, which target two different markets and maximize day-to-day operations. We have seen it with Simply J’s Café / Restaurant in N. Escario Street corner Apitong Street, and with the newly revamped At Home with Nice Things in Banilad Town Center.

Happy Rooster is located at the ground floor of The Persimmon Plus, a pocket commercial development in Mabolo that is beginning to be the destination by choice of many Cebuano diners.

Eating something healthy does not have to be expensive in Happy Rooster. Each hefty servings can be shared. Their appetizers starts at P85.00. Their fresh salads are within P155.00 - P160.00 price range. They have three choices for sandwiches: Tuna, Chicken and Salmon and are within P140.00-160.00 range. A glass of their fresh citrus punch is P50.00 which is way much better than a cup of coffee. Their hot apple cider is somewhere between P80.00-P90.00. Indeed a real value for money.

Happy Rooster will start serving you soon come early February 2012. Like Cook My Garden's facebook page and be updated on when is the day they will start serving these healthy treats.  Plus, your favorite Handuraw Pizzas will be baked and served soon by Happy Rooster.
